Dear Parents, Saanich Students need your help...

On April 27, 2011 the Saanich Board of Education contravened the School Act by presenting an 'unbalanced budget'; they did this because they felt that to meet the needs of our students, they cannot continue to cut programs and services to the level that the current funding formula dictates.

The COPACS executive supports our school board's decision and have drafted the attached document to help explain why our board has taken this stance and to help parents understand how important this issue is.

If you wish your opinion on the funding allocation formula and public education in Saanich to count , then send an email BEFORE JUNE 30TH to:

Honourable George Abbott, Minister of Education Minister.EDUC@gov.bc.ca

(NOTE: Every email is registered at the Ministry of Education so each email counts!)

Please take the time to read the attached document and if PACS choose to print and hand copies to parents, then they can claim their printing and paper costs from COPACS by supplying receipts thru their COPACS rep.
