Message from Dr. Kevin Elder:

At its public meeting of March 14, 2012 the Board of Education rescinded its previous motion to move recess to the end of the day at elementary schools. That motion had been passed on a provisional basis in case phase one of teacher job action continued into April, with the move of recess being intended to consolidate playground supervision to twice per day in order to provide district and school management staff with enhanced capacity to manage the transition from 2011/12 to 2012/13 during the key months of April through June. With the end of the teacher strike coming with the passing of Bill 22 on March 15, 2012 this move of recess would become unnecessary as teachers would return to regular duties including supervision.

To reiterate, recess will NOT be moving to the end of the day.
