Message from Dave Eberwein, Superintended of Saanich Schools:

Important Information for Parents who are front-line workers such as healthcare workers, first responders and law enforcement

The Saanich School District will be able to offer a Monday-Friday day program (8:40-2:50) for children of essential workers only  (there is also a possibility of before and after school being available).   It is important that essential services workers exhaust all possibilities for the supervision of their children before accessing this possibility with the School District. This will assist the district in its efforts to apply the necessary provincial health and safety protocols to ensure a safe space for staff and students.

Some important information to note:

  1. We will not be able to begin this service until late next week.  If you are in need of emergency childcare on Monday, March 30, please contact Carly Hunter at chunter@saanichschools.ca so that we can determine if we can accommodate this for Monday.
  2. This service will include child supervision and some general educational activities.
  3.  This service will be located at a few select school sites and not necessarily in your child's home school.
  4.  Saanich Schools is not able to provide transportation or food services at this time.

If you wish to express interest in this service, please complete the survey below by Monday, March 30 at 9:00 am.  All responses will be kept confidential.

The Saanich School District deeply appreciates the work of essential service workers and hopes that this offer will assist you during this challenging time.

Sincerely,
