The Confederation of Parents' Advisory Councils of Saanich

In January of this year, a motion was made at our COPACS meeting to form a committee and examine the issue of how math was being taught in our schools. A concerned parent from our District had started a math petition that garnered interest throughout British Columbia and beyond our province. Specifically, concerns were raised to us regarding our student's lack of understanding and proficiency in the fundamentals of arithmetic at the elementary level prior to being advanced to middle school. The Math Committee would like to share this petition, for your information, with the parents and tax payers of SD #63 (Saanich).
